Because I saw a young lady without a cellphone in her hand…

Seeing a girl her age without a phone in her hand made her stand out more than anything else, especially in this crowd. You could feel her anxiety from a mile away. Restless ankle twirling in chaotic patterns. Inside of her left thumb rubbed raw by a ragged chewed down left index fingernail. To the casual observer, or any of the tech-saturated sheep surrounding her if they took a moment to just look up, she was just there. Maybe she was just people watching, passing the time. But he know she was looking for someone in particular. They were either running late or she was very early. Likely the latter the way she looked at her watch and immediately started straightening her clothes and checked her hair for flyaways. The church bells seven streets to the East marked the quarter hour. She looked again to the West. The rest of the world continued looking down.
